Hello! I’m Selena Burks-Rentschler, a film producer, writer, and director who has been in the industry for over 20 years. I’ve worked on over 50 feature films, documentaries, non-profit promos, and online videos. My work has been screened in several film festivals nationwide and on broadcast television.
I’ve created S.A. Burks Productions & Consulting to do the two things that I love most:
Being a creative producer.
Sharing what I know to help others.
My experience working in the industry has been a roller-coaster ride with extreme highs and lows. As a woman of color who came from poverty, I quickly learned how intense and harsh this business could be. Yet, I never gave up. And because of that, I want to share all I’ve known as a producer, writer, director, and film accountant.
I’ve made many mistakes because I wasn’t self-assured in who I was as an artist and a Black woman working in this field. The times I overcame my insecurity and pushed past the boundaries were my most rewarding and triumphant moments.
I was born to be an encourager; it’s what I love to do. The services I provide will be direct, solutions-orientated, and thorough. Let me share what I know, help you avoid similar missteps, and encourage you along your creative journey.
